[What the role is]
Senior Research Executive (Aquaculture Innovation Centre)[What you will be working on]
· Planning and implementation of industry-related and Aquaculture Innovation Centre (AIC) R&D projects in the area of animal health that includes disease diagnosis using microbiological and molecular approaches; therapeutics/prophylactics performance assessment in in vitro and in vivo systems.
· Able to handle aquatic animals for experimental studies and perform techniques for tissue collection, including blood and other internal organs for analysis.
· Ensure good laboratory practices in animal biosafety level 2 (ABSL2) containment facilities and improve/add-on SOP’s subject to the changing / emerging project needs and practices in compliance with workplace safety.
· Take the lead in service/innovative projects and work effectively with team members to achieve overall project goals.
· Provide periodic progress updates, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of the project findings/outcome. Organize storage of all project data in eworks for management and traceability.
· Submit a detailed project report after completion for record and closure.
· Support student training through Major Project (MP), Student Internship Programme (SIP), and Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes/workshops of the Centre.
· Maintain professionalism and good work ethics and maintain confidentiality of industry-related and R&D projects.
· Carry out Centre-related activities/tasks as assigned by Centre Senior Management.
[What we are looking for]
· Qualification in aquaculture-related discipline with at least 3 to 5 years of research work experience
· Technical competencies in basic microbiology and molecular biology, handling, and maintenance of finfish and crustaceans are preferred.
· Familiar with common biostatistical analyses to support project work.
· Able to work independently and as part of a team for the timely achievement of project deliverables.
· Good communication and experience in lab management are an advantage.
