Full Description

About our group: The Drive & HSA Industrial Engineering (IE) Department is a key function within Seagate’s Worldwide Operations Planning organization, responsible for enabling efficient, cost‑effective, and scalable HDD manufacturing by optimizing critical factory resources such as space, equipment, manpower, material, machine utilization, and HPU (Hour Per Unit) requirements. The team partners closely with cross‑functional factory groups to ensure that current and future customer demand can be met through comprehensive capacity planning, long‑term volume forecasting, equipment and layout optimization, budget and technology roadmap alignment, and continuous operational improvement using Lean and IE methodologies to enhance OEE, yield, and cycle time. Additionally, the department drives digital transformation through Factory 4.0 initiatives, including automation, simulation modeling, and capacity visualization dashboards, serving as the central integrator that transforms complex manufacturing data into actionable strategies that keep Seagate’s factories agile, productive, and operationally excellent. About the role - you will: The incumbent will play a significant role in shaping Seagate’s factory capacity, layout efficiency, and digital transformation efforts. Your responsibilities include: Apply data analytics platforms and simulation tools (Python, FlexSim, Arena) to analyze data extracted from manufacturing systems. Develop data‑driven models to optimize capacity, layout, and resource allocation. Design optimized production layouts that improve process flow, minimize movement, and support future product and technology roadmaps. Calculate and standardize HPU (Hour Per Unit) requirements across product mixes and process variations. Assess the impact of new equipment and emerging technologies on existing production lines and long‑term factory plans. Provide standardized DOS, MCT, and process‑aligned layout requirements. Apply Lean and Industrial Engineering methodologies to improve Man, Machine, Material, and Space utilization. Drive improvements in factory yield, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and cycle time. Build and design automated workflow systems that support Factory 4.0 initiatives. Lead development of capacity dashboards to enhance visibility for key stakeholders. Lead overall factory capacity planning to meet customer volume demand. Collaborate with functional departments to expand capacity through process and equipment improvement. Support the IE Manager with budget planning and long‑term factory strategies.
