Reporting To: Under Direction Of Assistant Director/Residential Services - Girls Block – Assistant Manager Of Block; The Haven – Assistant Manager Of Block; Ipac – Assistant Manager/ Manager Of Ipac

 MAIN PURPOSE:

 

The Relief Youth Work Associate/Snr Youth Work Associate (Relief Staff) is part of a care team and is responsible for engaging residents in holistic and meaningful activities, providing residents with direction, guidance and supervision in daily activities and acting as a positive role model.

 

The Relief Staff is required to undertake The Salvation Army Child Protection Policy training course, and other training designated by TSA or MSF, and to implement its contents

The Relief Staff is to ensure that he/she performs his/her job in compliance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures including The Salvation Army Child Protection Policy and all relevant government rules and regulations.

 

For Relief SYWA, it is expected that they are able to perform their roles more independently and require less support from full time staff.

 

Relief Staff can be deployed to any residential service within CYG according to operational needs.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Embrace the Salvation Army’s stated mission and work in partnership by assisting CYG Residential Management to enhance the quality of care for residents.

 

  1. Work with the residents in accordance with CYG Residential mission and MSF’s regulatory framework, maintaining professional and purposeful relationships with colleagues and residents, respecting and valuing individuals’ diversity and the variety of their contribution and ensuring that the service provided to young people upholds these principles.

 

  1. Role model and mentor residents to respect CYG Residential guidelines, and develop their strength of moral character and civic duty. Relief SWYAs are expected to do this more independently and are able to manage more complex behaviour needs.

 

  1. Assist full time staff in assuring compliance of SOPs in operations and support emergency at work. Relief SWYAs are expected to do this more independently.

 

  1. Take guidance from the allied health professional/social work team for assessment of residents' needs and adhere to intervention and behaviour support plans developed by them.

 

  1. Assist full time staff in planning and facilitating group activities

 

  1. Responsible for preventing abuse of residents by adhering to all policies and procedures, attending required training, reporting suspicious and inappropriate behaviour and following mandatory abuse reporting requirements.

 

  1. Support the residents’ daily activities and to ensure that they adhere to daily planning schedules, support safety inspections and drills, and conduct screening checks for dangerous items and contraband substances.

 

  1. Respect and safeguard the rights of persons and organizations, served in a relationship of mutual trust, to privacy and confidentiality in their use of our service and be responsible in the use of all information given and received.

 

  1. Communicate in a timely, open and honest way, encouraging two-way constructive feedback covering both positive and more difficult issues.

 

  1. Adhere to instructions, SOPs, licensing and funding requirements, regulations, laws and all other requirements from either government agencies or TSA as we are a licensed Children’s Home.

 

  1. Other duties as assigned by the Head of Home and/or designate.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma or Degree holders who are passionate about taking care of children and youth. Those with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
