Position Summary

We are hiring a Customer Support Officer Mobile – APAC to support the growing mtu mobile power systems fleet and customer base across the Asia Pacific region. This role is based in Singapore (Tukang) and sits within the APAC Service organisation.

The role provides customer service support for controls and automation for Mobile applications (mainly marine and including industrial applications) across APAC, either directly or through subsidiaries, distributors, service partners and customers.

You will act as a key coordination and support point between customers, service operations, field service engineers, technical teams, and internal stakeholders. The role focuses on aftermarket service support, repair coordination, customer communication, and operational execution for mobile power systems used in mission-critical and industrial applications.

This position is well suited for candidates with hands-on experience in power systems, diesel engines, generators, marine engines, controls and automation, or industrial service environments, who enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-facing operations role.


What you will be doing:

Pre-Sales, After-Sales & Technical Support

  • Provide customer service and technical support for mtu mobile power systems across APAC, covering both marine and industrial applications
  • Support customers through the full lifecycle from pre-sales technical clarification to after-sales service and issue resolution
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers, subsidiaries, distributors, and service partners
  • Provide on-site or off-site support as required, including regional travel when necessary
  • Provide leads and support to the Sales organisation where required
  • Support the Customer Care Center on technical and service-related matters

Installation, Commissioning & Evaluation

  • Support installation, commissioning, and evaluation activities for mobile power systems
  • Provide technical support for controls and automation systems in the mobile applications

Service Coordination, Execution & Crisis Management

  • Coordinate and support service activities related to installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mobile power systems
  • Supervise and guide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activities where required
  • Lead and support breakdown troubleshooting, diagnostics, failure analysis, and crisis recovery situations
  • Coordinate with field service engineers, service partners, and regional teams to ensure timely and effective service execution
  • Support crisis management situations by coordinating resources, technical input, and customer communication

Technical Analysis & Engineering Interface

  • Perform and support data analysis, diagnostics, and root cause investigations for technical issues and failures
  • Provide structured technical feedback to Level 3 support, factories, and R&D teams
  • Coordinate with Failure Analysis Centers (FAC) to carry out formal failure analysis as required
  • Support continuous improvement by feeding field learnings back into engineering and product teams

Warranty, Documentation & Compliance

  • Support evaluation, documentation, and approval of warranty claims in line with company policies
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of service reports, technical documentation, and customer records
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and service standards, including WSQ/HS&E requirements where applicable

Regional Coordination & Capability Support

  • Support regional coordination of service capabilities and capacity planning across APAC
  • Support Correction-in-Field (CiF) support and implementation where required
  • Support and coordinate activities with Sales Organisation, Customer Care Centre, and regional stakeholders
  • Provide additional technical or service support to the region as required

Position requirements:

Essential

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in commissioning and/or technical support for controls and automation within:
    • Diesel engines and marine applications (focus)
    • Mobile power systems and industrial applications (additional scope)
  • Strong hands-on exposure to aftermarket service, commissioning, troubleshooting, and breakdown support
  • Proven experience supporting customers in a technical, operational, and service context
  • Willingness to travel regionally within APAC for service and customer support as required
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)

Preferred / Advantageous

  • Holding WSQ / HS&E safety certifications or equivalent
  • Experience supporting both marine and industrial applications
  • Prior exposure to crisis management or critical failure recovery situations
  • Experience working with Failure Analysis Centres or formal root cause analysis processes
  • SAP or service management system experience
