Full Description

Temasek Laboratories@NTU (TL@NTU) is a premier research institute at Nanyang Technological University specializing in advanced defense and security technologies. The institute focuses on cutting-edge research in quantum technologies, advanced materials, and sensor development.

We are looking for a Research Fellow to lead critical research activities in the development of quantum-grade nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center diamonds and their application in advanced magnetometry systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes for growing ultra-pure single-crystal diamonds with controlled nitrogen-vacancy center formation

  • Implement sustainable synthesis protocols for 12C-isotope enriched diamond fabrication, including gas recirculation systems and process optimization

  • Collaborate to execute precision nitrogen doping strategies for deterministic NV center placement

  • Collaborate and execute project deliverables for successful NV center diamond-based devices such as vector magnetometer and wide-field RF sensor

  • Collaborate with team members across multiple institutions including DSO National Laboratories and A*STAR

  • Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations for project milestones and deliverables

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Physics, Materials Science, Solid State Chemistry, or related field with specialization in diamond technologies and advanced materials characterization techniques

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in diamond CVD growth, or similar synthesis techniques

  • Proficiency in cleanroom fabrication processes and materials characterization techniques

  • Experience with optical spectroscopy and microwave engineering

  • Good writing skills for writing proposals, reports and publications in good academic journals

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Experience with vacuum systems, plasma processes, and gas handling systems preferred

  • Knowledge of quantum information science and quantum sensing applications highly desirable
