Full Description
Established as a partnership between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National Healthcare Group (NHG), the Asian Centre for Health Behavioural Insights & Interventions (HABITS) aims to improve population health through multidisciplinary and translational research to support interventions, policy and programmes; strengthen national capabilities through the integration of translational research into health intervention processes; and increase Singapore’s regional and international profile as a centre of excellence for health behavioural sciences. We are looking for a Research Fellow to work closely with the centre’s Directors to manage research projects and to secure research grants. The role will focus on project management, research expertise, managing and day-to-day research operations, such as data storage, budgets, expenses, assets, and ethics approvals. Key Responsibilities: Conduct independent and collaborative research applying AI and machine learning techniques to behavioural and population health data relevant to Singapore’s diverse communities. Develop predictive and explainable machine learning/deep learning/genAI models using multimodal cross-section and longitudinal data (e.g. surveys, digital platforms, wearables, administrative or longitudinal datasets). Collaborate with NTU faculty, clinicians, government agencies, and community partners to support translation of research into practice and policy. Contribute to the preparation of research grants (e.g. MOE, MOH, NRF, A*STAR, NMRC) and support project management and reporting requirements. Publish findings in high-impact international journals and present at regional and global conferences. Support the design and evaluation of AI-enabled behavioural health interventions, dashboards, or decision-support tools. Ensure compliance with IRB/ethics, data governance, and responsible AI principles, including fairness, explainability, and privacy protection. Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students where appropriate. Job Requirements: PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Psychology, Public Health, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline. Evidence of productive history working in academic and healthcare/regulatory environments is desired. Evidence of strong foundations in machine learning, statistical modelling, and data analytics. Demonstrable experience in handling and analysing health, behavioural, or social science datasets. Proficiency in Python and/or R, and familiarity with open access AI/ML libraries. Track record (or strong potential) of peer-reviewed publications. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams. Desired but not essential: Possesses international experience, with a strong network of contacts in the region. We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Hiring Institution: NTU A research-intensive public university, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) has 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Engineering, Business, Science, Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, and Graduate colleges.
