About the Position

Energy Exemplar is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Sales Director to lead and scale new business acquisition across the APAC region. This role holds full ownership of end-to-end new logo sales, playing a critical part in driving regional revenue growth and market expansion. In this pivotal position, you will define and execute high impact sales strategies focused on direct enterprise sales. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong, senior level relationships with key customers, managing complex sales cycles, and driving new business opportunities across the energy and utilities markets.

The Sales Director will ensure Energy Exemplar’s solutions are positioned and delivered effectively across the region, aligning closely with customer needs and market dynamics. Success in this role requires a strong commercial mindset, deep experience navigating enterprise sales environments, and the ability to consistently deliver against ambitious growth targets.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • New Business Growth: Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities in ASEAN's energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Enterprise SaaS Sales: Lead strategic, consultative sales of complex software solutions (e.g., PLEXOS) to senior stakeholders within utilities, independent / transmission system operators, renewable developers, consultants.
  • Territory Ownership: Develop and execute a territory strategy tailored to ASEAN’s unique energy mix, regulatory environment, and market dynamics.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with C-level executives, policy advisors, planners, and technical teams to position Energy Exemplar as a trusted partner for ASEAN’s or ASEAN Countries energy transition goals.
  • Pipeline Management: Manage the complete sales cycle from discovery to contract close employing best-in-class CRM practices and pipeline discipline.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Solutions Engineers, Marketing, Legal, and Product teams to build tailored proposals and deliver against customer-specific requirements.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Energy Exemplar at regional industry conferences, webinars, and policy forums to champion advanced planning, grid modernization, and decarbonization.
  • Customer Expansion: Work with Customer Success to drive renewals, upsell opportunities, and expanded adoption across new departments, business units, and modelling use cases.
  • Market Awareness: Stay attuned to ASEAN’s grid evolving energy policy, liberalization efforts, capacity market developments, hydrogen strategies, and competitive landscape across fuels and technologies.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

  • 10+ years level of experience in enterprise software/SaaS sales, business development, or consulting in complex, multi-stakeholder environments in ASEAN and/or ASEAN countries
  • Strong background in the Energy, Utilities, Renewables, or Infrastructure sectors with experience of the ASEAN market
  • Proven record of achieving and exceeding sales targets across strategic enterprise accounts.
