Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager, Internal Controls to lead the organization’s journey toward SOX readiness and ongoing compliance. The role will grow and lead the multinational Internal Controls Team in the organization. This role will be pivotal in first establishing and then maintaining a strong internal control environment over financial reporting, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and supporting management in building a culture of accountability and governance.
Key Responsibilities
SOX Program Implementation & Oversight
- Lead the company’s SOX readiness program, including the design, documentation, and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
- Oversee the annual SOX scoping, risk assessment, and control design evaluation process.
- Manage end-to-end SOX testing, including walkthroughs, control testing, evaluation of deficiencies, and remediation tracking.
- Maintain and update process documentation (e.g., narratives, flowcharts, RCMs) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Internal Control Management
- Maintain a fit-for-purpose internal control framework that aligns with COSO and SOX requirements.
- Partner with Finance, IT, and business process owners to embed controls into business processes, maintaining operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Monitor remediation activities to address control gaps and ensure timely closure.
- Coordinate with external auditors to enable their ICFR assessment and their reliance on internal controls.
Governance, Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide timely and transparent reporting to senior management and the audit committee on SOX compliance status, deficiencies, and remediation progress.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business process owners, providing guidance on control design, implementation, and sustainability.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external auditors to facilitate smooth compliance and audit processes.
Cultural & Capability Building
- Promote a strong culture of internal controls and compliance across the organization.
- Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to raise SOX awareness and enhance control ownership among business stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide the team to strengthen the internal controls function.
A successful applicant should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, CIA, or CISA are strongly preferred.
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in internal controls, compliance, external audit, or internal audit, with significant exposure to SOX implementation and compliance.
- Strong technical knowledge of SOX requirements, ICFR, and COSO framework.
- Hands-on experience leading SOX readiness or compliance programs in a multinational environment.
- Good project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
