Be part of history in the making. AstraZeneca is building its first biologics manufacturing campus in Singapore — a groundbreaking USD 1.5 billion investment that will serve as a global hub for innovation and excellence.

This state-of-the-art facility will deliver end-to-end Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) capabilities with different manufacturing units/buildings in one campus Small molecule- chemical API production

  • Large molecule- monoclonal antibody manufacturing

  • Conjugation

  • Fill-and-finish operations, including sterile filling and lyophilization

  • Final secondary packaging

The campus will be equipped with modern digital and automation infrastructure, enabling autonomous manufacturing powered by artificial intelligence. In addition, it will be designed for carbon neutrality, embedding sustainability into every aspect of operations and setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible biologics manufacturing.

Accountabilities:

  • Instrumentation and Calibration Leadership: Set the vision and standards for instrumentation and calibration, aligning operational goals to strategic objectives to elevate reliability, quality and speed.
  • Project and Operational Readiness: Collaborate with global and site engineering teams to implement projects and drive operational readiness in line with company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Portfolio Management: Own timelines and budgets for projects and programs within your area, balancing risk, quality and delivery.
  • Functional and People Leadership: Act as lead engineer for a significant functional area and/or develop a team of project engineers, steering their portfolios from inception to completion.
  • Technical Authority and Stake holder Support: Provide expert consultation, guiding decisions with robust engineering principles and practical solutions.
  • Demand and Supply Optimization: Handle stake holder expectations and optimize demand versus supply to make the best use of resources.
  • Business Translation: Translate business needs into tangible, value-creating actions that drive measurable outcomes.
  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate systems across teams and departments, removing roadblocks to increase execution pace and efficiency.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Actively control supplier performance to ensure reliable, compliant and cost-efficient operations.
  • Process Implementation and agreement: Convert requirements into timely process implementation and secure formal stake holder agreement.
  • KPI Ownership: Own and implement critical metrics across productivity, quality, safety, schedule alignment and cost, ensuring visibility and accountability.
  • Team Culture and Performance: Build an inclusive, collaborative culture to achieve best-in-class performance.
  • Data-Driven Problem Solving: Develop an analytical mentality using data analytics and hard-working technologies to solve sophisticated problems.
  • Capability Building: Cultivate technical expertise by disseminating standard methodologies and sharing knowledge across functions and projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean, cost-efficient operations, autonomous manufacturing, environmental sustainability and technology introduction.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Chips in to the development and implements operational goals to achieve strategic objectives in Instrumentation and Calibration
  • Collaborates and holds accountabilities with Global/Site Engineering in project execution and chips in to achieve operational readiness meeting AstraZeneca’s policies, procedures and standards
  • Handles timeline and cost of projects and programs within own business area
  • Acts as lead engineer for a significant functional Engineering area and/or handles a group of project engineers accountable to deliver their own portfolio of programs and projects from inception to completion
  • Applies core technical leadership into daily operation providing support and consultation to collaborators
  • Handles expectations of business collaborators relevant to own area of control and ensures optimized demand vs. supply management
  • Communicates business needs and helps translate these into tangible and value creating actions
  • Coordinates systems in team and across the department and facilitates efficiency by removing roadblocks
  • Actively controls supplier performance and ensures reliable, compliant and cost-efficient operation
  • Translates business needs into timely implementation of processes and gains formal agreement by collaborators
  • Owns and implements KPIs across productivity, quality, safety, schedule alignment and cost
  • Creates an inclusive and collaborative culture and achieves best in class performance within the team
  • Develops analytical problem-solving demeanor, driven by data analytics and application of hard-working technologies
  • Develops and cultivates technical expertise and knowledge within project team or broader Engineering function by disseminating standard methodologies and sharing knowledge across functions and project teams
  • Chips in and advocates to the Continuous Improvement demeanor and enables goals in lean/cost efficient operations, autonomous manufacturing, environmental sustainability and technology introduction

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in supervised, GxP manufacturing environments with deep knowledge of instrumentation and calibration standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025, ISA/IEC)
  • Proficiency with CMMS/asset management systems and digital tools that enable smart, automated calibration workflows
  • Lean Six Sigma certification and a track record of measurable improvements across quality, cost and schedule
  • Background in autonomous manufacturing technologies, IoT sensing, digital twins or sophisticated analytics applied to reliability and performance
  • Proven success managing strategic suppliers and contracts to achieve compliance, resilience and cost efficiency
  • Experience leading multi-site programs and aligning diverse collaborators around common critical metrics and execution models
  • Passion for sustainable engineering practices and embedding environmental objectives into operational decisions
